Why financial independence matters for every girl

Why financial independence matters for every girl

As a girl who’s juggling three jobs along with her studies, running a small business, and managing my home all on my own, I can tell you from the heart that financial independence isn’t just important; it’s everything. It’s the freedom to stand on your own two feet. It’s the ability to make choices that are right for you without having to depend on anyone else. And honestly, it’s what keeps me going every single day.

Right now, I’m the sole earner in my home. Some days, I wake up exhausted, wondering how I’ll make it through the day. But then I remember why I’m doing all of this, and that’s because I want a life where I’m not stuck, not waiting for someone else to take care of things. Because I know that being financially independent means I get to decide the direction of my life. And that’s powerful.

For girls, especially in a culture where we’re often taught to wait — to wait for support, for marriage, for someone to provide — it’s so important to realise that we can be our own providers. We don’t have to wait. We can work, earn, save, invest, and dream big. Financial independence opens doors not just to better things but to self-respect, confidence, and peace of mind.

Of course, it’s not always easy. Sometimes, I feel overwhelmed trying to keep everything afloat. There are sacrifices — less sleep, less time for myself, and constant pressure to do more.

But even on the hardest days, I feel proud. Because every step I take is mine. Every bill I pay, every milestone I hit in my business, every moment I make ends meet — it all reminds me that I am capable.

I truly believe every girl deserves to feel this sense of control over her own life. Whether you want to travel the world, start a company, support your family, or just feel secure, money gives you options. It gives you a voice. And it gives you strength.

So yes, financial independence matters. For me, for you, for every girl out there dreaming of something more. We owe it to ourselves to build a life where we are not just surviving but thriving. One step at a time, even if it means wearing multiple hats, we are proving just how strong we really are.
