Food review: Bao Saleem mutton chanay

Androon Lahore has amazing food at almost every corner. Then, there is Bau Saleem, located at Truck Adda, Ravi Road, Qila Lachman Singh. It’s one of the oldest eateries in the city.

I had always heard about Bau Saleem but had never tried it. It had long been on my restaurant wishlist; and finally, I got to try their chanay.

I arrived early in the morning, and to my surprise, there was already a large crowd enjoying nashta. Seeing the crowd, my expectations rose—I knew I was in for something special.

The ambience or seating arrangement isn’t very family- or women-friendly, but if you have a car, you must enjoy these delicious chanay with your family inside your vehicle.

I ordered a full plate of mutton chanay, which had perfectly balanced spices. The chana gravy wasn’t thick but light, so light, in fact, you forget how much you’ve eaten. And did I eat? Yes, I did!

Now, coming to the most important part: the mutton. It was super tender and absolutely delicious.

I also ordered the special tilon wala kulcha. The love story between kulcha and chanay is truly amazing. I love this combination (ISHQ SA HAI MUJHE!).

When I introduced myself to the restaurant staff as a food blogger and mentioned that I wanted to record a video and share my review with my audience, they were incredibly welcoming. Their hospitality was outstanding, and they made me feel totally at ease.

I must mention one person: Haji. He was very humble and respectful. He works there and performs his duties exceptionally well. He didn’t hesitate to take my order and even wished me success in my field, offering many blessings for my future. I truly enjoyed both the food and the company.

I highly recommend you try Bau Saleem at least once in your life. It’s one of the most recommended spots in town. When you take your first bite of naan and chanay, you’ll be saying, “Oyy hoyee, aghh time!” I rate the taste 10/10.
