Don’t suffocate yourself! Speak out about what you are going through. If you are not allowed to make hangouts with friends, just tell them. If you cannot afford slumber parties, just tell them. If you cannot have coffee in a fancy restaurant that costs Rs. 400, just tell them. They will, for sure, come up with a solution if they are worth any place in your life, or they will make an alternate plan or something.
And stop thinking that you are inferior. Listen! You are not. These are not the things that define your place. And being in that place is nothing to be ashamed of. But if you will not communicate, you will suffer. Life is not as easy and fancy as it appears on timelines. It’s already difficult, and this is reality. Don’t make it even worse. People matter; place doesn’t. Moment matters; things do not.
The thing that matters is the feeling of a person. Once my teacher said, “The most important thing is the heart of a person, bas wo tootna nahi chaahiye.”
Trust me, it’s okay to have meetup plans at home. It’s okay to avoid slumber parties if you cannot afford them. It’s okay to have tea from an ordinary dhaba that costs Rs. 50.
